POLITICAL AWARENESS
AND INVOLVEMENT

Since its inception in 1913, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. has been committed to serving as a catalyst for positive policy changes and social action advancements at all levels of government and in international bodies. Nearly six weeks after its founding, several Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Founders marched in the historic National Woman Suffrage Parade of 1913.

The Sorority's social action initiatives are deeply rooted in its founding commitment to social change and equality, focusing on voter education, registration, and mobilization; public policy education; legislative monitoring at all levels; and advocating for issues like education reform, health disparities, unethical political decisions, denied human rights and voter suppression, primarily to benefit the Black community. Key efforts include Delta Days at the local, national, and international levels, and the establishment of D4Women In Action, a social welfare and advocacy group, organized as a 501(c)(4) by Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. D4Women In Action focuses on building the power of Black women and women of color to take action, lead, and create meaningful change in their communities.
